Specialty MRI
MRI Richmond
Who We Are:
Specialty MRI was established to operate an MRI clinic utilizing the Esaote Artoscan Series of dedicated MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) systems designed specifically to image extremities including knees, ankles, feet, hands, wrists and elbows. This system was developed for Sport Medicine Clinics and professional sports teams in Europe, there are over 1700 units in use in Europe and the USA. It has been installed in several Canadian sites such as the Banff Springs Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver.
We have operated an Artoscan C in Vancouver and since Oct 2002, we moved to Richmond in the spring of 2008. The system has proven to be very reliable and produces images that are widely accepted by the BC Medical community. We work closely with many Sports Specific Physicians and Surgeons.
What We Do:
Specialty MRI Clinics Inc. is setup to have the studies from the Clinic reported by our Radiologists remotely, in a filmless and paperless manner. This is accomplished through the use of a secure ADSL/VPN link between the Clinic and several reading stations set up by the Radiologists in their homes. This removes the need for the Radiologist to come to the clinic and speeds up the reporting process. This dispenses with the cost of films and dictation/transcription that are the conventional way of Radiographic reporting. This system is very successful and has been implemented by other Clinics in the Industry.
Our service provides the patient with a short wait time. The Family Doctor requests an MRI and within 2-3 days has the MRI report which he sends along with a referral to the Specialist. The Specialist reviews the results and sets an appointment to discuss the treatment. The treatment takes place in a timely manner ensuring a better outcome and a higher quality of life for the patient.
